Court freezes Gazprom Dutch assets to enforce Stockholm arbitration order to pay $2.6 bln

A Dutch court has granted petitions filed by Naftogaz Ukrainy last week to freeze Gazprom's stakes in its Dutch subsidiaries and any debts owed by these subsidiaries to the Russian gas giant, the Ukrainian oil and gas company said in a statement.

The petitions were filed to secure Naftogaz's right to payment of $2.6 billion by Gazprom pursuant to the Stockholm arbitration award issued in February 2018, the company said.

"A Dutch court approved the petitions; however, six out of seven of Gazprom's Dutch subsidiaries have refused to cooperate with the bailiffs. This does not affect the validity of the attachments," Naftogaz said.
