Agrarian trade turnover between Ukraine and Netherlands 69% up in 2017

Trade turnover between Ukraine and the Netherlands increased by 69% in 2017, while by 21% in January-March 2018, mainly due to an increase in exports, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has said.

"In 2017 trade turnover between our countries amounted to almost $1.5 billion, of which Ukrainian exports were $1.28 billion. In general, as compared with 2016, the supply of agricultural products to the Netherlands increased by 80%. Among the promising and strategically important areas of cooperation for the near future is the development of organic production," Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Maksym Martyniuk said.

According to him, in 2017 Ukraine for the first time exported a batch of apple seedlings to the Netherlands, which is indicative in relations for balancing trade in this area, because before that, gardening products were only imported from the Netherlands.

According to the deputy minister, the Ukrainian side is ready to increase supplies to the Dutch market, in particular, flour and cereals, meat, natural and mineral water, molasses, food industry residues and waste products, etc.
