Yuzhny port seeks to transship over 2 mln tonnes of coal for power plants in 2018
The Yuzhny port seeks to transship over 2 million tonnes of coal imported for the needs of Ukrainian power plants in 2018, the port has said in a press release.
"The Yuzhny port fulfilled all the agreements on handling of ships with imported coal in the due time and expects that the first bulkers would come in spring 2018. The contracts with cargo owners are at the final stage of signing today. It is planned to handle over 2 million tonnes of coal for TPPs [thermal power plants] this year. The volumes are acceptable for the enterprise and the agreement will be fulfilled," acting Director of the port Vitaliy Zhukovsky said.
The port on January 30, 2018 unloaded the last bulker under the contract of 2017 with 77,600 tonnes of steam coal from the United States for Centrenergo's TPPs.
The press service recalled that in 2017, cargo flow at the Yuzhny port was 11.6 million tonnes, including 7.2 million tonnes of exported ore, 2.9 million tonnes of coal for Ukrainian power plants and the metal sector.
