Ukraine's gas stocks 21% down in heating season so far
Gas stocks in Ukraine's underground storage facilities have declined by 20.7% or by 3.519 billion cubic meters (bcm), to 13.454 bcm since October 24, 2017 when the current heating season began, through January 20, 2018, according to public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz.
According to Interfax-Ukraine's calculations, average daily pumping from underground storage facilities in November 2017 was 24.85 million cubic meters (mcm), in December – 46.05 mcm, on January 1 through January 20, 2018 – 61.92 mcm and on January 20 – 61.28 mcm.
On January 20, 2017, 77.67 mcm was withdrawn (leaving 10.648 bcm in storage), two years ago some 99.64 mcm (11.958 bcm), and three years ago some 64.43 mcm (9.954 bcm).
Thus, gas stocks in Ukrainian underground storage facilities on January 20, 2018 were 26.4%, 12.5% and 35.2% more than on January 20, 2017, 2016 and 2015 respectively.
With the expected temperatures and maintaining the current rate of imports Ukraine will enter February 2018 with stocks in storage facilities of 12.6-12.7 bcm.
