PM Groysman expects defense industry to drive Ukrainian economy in 2018
The defense industry complex may become one of the drivers of the Ukrainian economy in 2018, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.
Answering a question about expected points of growth of the national economy in 2018 at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, the head of government said: "The military-industrial complex will be a separate driver [of the economy] next year."
"We are allocating UAH 16.5 billion [from the national budget] next year to produce new weapons and modernize [weapons and military equipment]," he said.
An increase in defense budget spending on these purposes should ensure the supply of new weapons to the army, the prime minister said.
