Ukraine cuts coal production by 13.6% in 11 months
Ukraine's coal mines in January-November 2017 reduced production of coal by 13.6% (by 5.044 million tonnes) compared to the same period in 2016, to 31.964 million tonnes.
The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry said coking coal production decreased by 20.1%, to 6.206 million tonnes, steam coal by 11.9%, to 25.759 million tonnes.
In November 2017 production of coal decreased by 19% compared to the same month last year, to 3.087 million tonnes.
Coal mining enterprises managed by the ministry in January-November 2017 reduced production by 16.1%, to 4.427 million tonnes, in particular production of coking coal decreased by 39.8%, to 857,400 tonnes, steam coal by 7.3%, to 3.569 tonnes.
Mines in Donetsk region for the 11 months provided extraction of 10.481 million tonnes of coal (26.4% down from January-November 2016), Luhansk region some 1.644 million tonnes (62.7% down), Dnipropetrovsk region some 18.331 million tonnes (9.5% up), Lviv region some 1.413 million tonnes (2.6% down), and Volyn region some 95,600 tonnes (43.2% down).
