Poroshenko concerned about cancellation of VAT refunds for oilseeds exports
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko shares the concern of agrarians about the decision of the Verkhovna Rada to cancel VAT refunds for exports of soybeans, rapeseeds and sunflower.
"The head of state shares the concern of agrarians with the ambiguous provisions adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding the specifics of VAT on exports of agricultural products," first deputy head of the presidential administration Vitaliy Kovalchuk said.
The president drew attention of the deputies to the inconsistency of such decisions with the commitments Ukraine undertook upon accession to the World Trade Organization and when signing the Association Agreement with the European Union.
Poroshenko asked the Verkhovna Rada to eliminate inconsistencies, in particular regarding the timing of application of taxation to operations with agricultural products.
Kovalchuk hopes that the parliament this week will find a compromise solution to settle this issue, which will meet the economic interests of the state, agricultural producers and Ukraine's trade obligations.
