Ukrainian consumers won't be affected by explosion at Austrian gas hub
The explosion at the Baumgarten gas hub in Austria will not affect gas supplies to Ukrainian consumers, the press office of Naftogaz Ukrainy has told Interfax-Ukraine, quoting company head Andriy Kobolev.
"This year we have pumped significant volumes into Ukrainian gas storage facilities, 15% more than last year. Even in the event of a temporary halt or restriction in gas supplies from Europe, we are able to withdraw more gas from underground storage for Ukrainian consumers," Naftogaz said.
Reports have said transit of Russian gas via Ukraine to Europe along the Uzhgorod corridor could fall by a third on Tuesday due to the explosion at the gas hub in Baumgarten.
