Ukraine is second or third in world in gas deposits volume
Ukraine is second or third in the world in terms of gas deposits volume, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at the International Mayors Summit in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"According to the studies of various competent organizations we are second or third in the world in terms of gas deposits," he said.
Groysman said that with these deposits Ukraine extracts a small amount of what the country really can produce.
"We are the country which could have own energy independence via production of the required volume of gas for the domestic market and for exports with the introduction of new innovative technological solutions," the prime minister said.
He said that gas exports would allow improving the balance of trade and the exchange rate of the national currency.
Groysman said that the previous period of Ukraine's energy dependence on Russia was the factor influencing Russia's aggression.
