Food Safety Service registers 127 cases of ASF in Ukraine, 105 of them in households since start of 2017
The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumers' Rights Protection has registered 127 cases of African swine fever (ASF) since the beginning of 2017, of which 105 in households.
According to a report on the website of the service, this year ASF quarantine has been lifted in 102 settlements, while it is still valid in 26 towns.
"Ukraine is not the only state in Europe that suffers from this disease. Some 721 cases of ASF were registered in Latvia in 2017, 759 in Lithuania, 446 in Poland, and 529 in Estonia," the deputy director of the food safety and veterinary department at the Service, Artem Sayenko, said.
