Kyivstar seeks to receive permit to carry out financial transactions
The leading Ukrainian mobile communications operator – Kyivstar – seeks to receive a permit to carry out some bank transactions from the regulator, Kyivstar President Peter Chernyshov said during the lecture entitled "Business of the Future" in Kyiv.
"On Monday we will finally submit [an application] to the National Bank to register transactions of the entire our financial company. The NBU has a month to answer. I think that they would not dismiss [our application]," he said.
However, Chernyshov did not disclose the details of the project.
He said that trends in business show that the role of intermediaries, including banks, insurance companies and real estate agencies, is decreasing.
"The role of intermediaries is falling in the world… Internet, smartphones cheapen their services," he said.
