No grounds to refuse Russian ruble circulation in Ukraine
There are no grounds to refuse the circulation of Russian rubles in Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Oleh Churiy has stated.
"A few weeks ago, the NBU banned the currency exchange offices of authorized banks from accepting Russian rubles with the image of Ukrainian [occupied] territories ... Currently we have no plans to further prohibit the circulation of cash Russian rubles in the territory of Ukraine," he said.
At the same time, he noted the circulation of Russian rubles in Ukraine is due to the demand and supply of this currency.
"We do not prohibit the circulation of any foreign currency if it passes through banks or through exchange offices," he said.
