Energoatom to buy 17 batches of nuclear fuel in 2017
National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom this year will buy 17 batches of nuclear fuel for its reactors, First Vice President of Energoatom Oleksandr Shavlakov said at the Open Energy Week in Kyiv on Monday.
He said that in particular, the company intends to buy 11 batches of fuel in Russia (nine batches for VVER-1000 reactors and two batches for VVER-440 reactors).
At present, five batches of Russian fuel have been received.
In 2017, it is also planned to buy six batches of nuclear fuel made by Westinghouse. Five batches have been received.
Shavlakov said that this year it is planned to make five trips to remove spent nuclear fuel to Russia, and four trips have been made.
