IMF objects idea of postponing payment of VAT on imports of new equipment
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said that the Cabinet of Ministers is in favor of postponing the payment of VAT on imports of new industrial equipment, but the International Monetary Fund (IMF) does not support this idea.
"To stimulate the industry, I want to restructure VAT on imports of new equipment. I want a person who imports into the country the equipment that we do not produce to receive a delay of, say, 36 months," he said in an interview with Interfax -Ukraine.
Groysman noted that the business supported such an idea, but international partners of Ukraine were still against it.
"The business is waiting for such a decision, but there are still some restrictions that do not allow me to do this. We and our international partners look at the parameters of budget revenues," he said, adding that the IMF is against such an initiative.
