Nord Stream shuts down for planned maintenance until Sept 22
Nord Stream, the undersea gas pipeline linking Russia and Germany, will conduct scheduled maintenance on both lines of the pipeline over the next 11 days, Nord Stream AG reported.
Pressure in the pipeline began falling at 5:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday, reaching zero by 7:00 a.m.
The maintenance period will continue until September 22 and will include maintenance work at the acceptance terminal in Greifswald and the Radeland compressor station on the OPAL gas pipeline.
Simultaneously, gas transit through Ukraine is increasing. Gas transport volumes on the Uzhhorod corridor through Slovakia rose to 199 million cubic meters (mcm) on Monday from 188 mcm on Sunday. Gas transit through Ukraine may continue to increase in coming days: under the terms of the gas transit contract, volume increases are limited to 5% per day.
