Odesa regional administration creates commission to fight agri raiders
Odesa Regional Administration has created a commission that will sort out attempts to illegally seize agricultural harvests.
The region's press service on Monday said the commission would be headed by First Deputy Odesa Governor Oleksandr Tereschuk, as well as representatives of law-enforcement agencies and district Justice Ministry officials.
The creation of the commission is necessitated by attempts in the region to steal farmers' harvests, as has occurred in Odesa's Bolhrad, Tarutyne and Ananyiv districts. Criminal investigations have been opened.
In addition, three mobile groups have been created. They will visit places where conflicts arise.
"Our position is firm: the person who planted the crop should be the one who harvests it. All other arrangements must be adjudicated in court," the press service said, citing Tereschuk.
