Ukraine hopes U.S. to help in allowing LNG tankers to pass Bosphorus strait
Ukraine is interested in an opportunity of supplying U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) to its market across the Black Sea. The project is being hindered by the unwillingness of Turkey to pass tankers with LNG through the Bosphorus strait, Naftogaz Ukrainy Board Chairman Andriy Kobolev has said.
Ukraine hopes that new diplomatic efforts of the United States would allow solving the problem, he said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
Kobolev confirmed that he discussed the possibility of these supplies during his visit to the United States as a member of the delegation headed by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
Naftogaz said that the traffic of more hazardous cargo across the Bosphorus strait is permitted.
