Poroshenko calls on Rada to accelerate medical reform in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has called on the parliament to accelerate the process of introducing medical reform in Ukraine.
"The system we inherited from the Soviet Union and artificially preserved during all these 25 years is absolutely unfit for new social and economic realities. We now immediately need fundamental changes," the president said at the celebrations on occasion of the Day of Medical Worker in Kyiv.
According to him, the basic principles of this reform have already been proposed.
"The government has reviewed [the proposals] and submitted [them] to the National Reforms Council, where a very serious discussion took place. I want to thank the group of people's deputies in the Verkhovna Rada that was created to finalize the bill in parliament," the president said.
Poroshenko stressed voting on medical reform at first reading testifies that "we are on the right way".
"But now we should not remain indifferent, we should carefully study all the proposals and to second reading we should submit the improved medical reform, which in the shortest time will radically change the situation in the medical sphere," the head of state said.
