Naftogaz says talks with Gazprom in Russia unacceptable
NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy says that it is unacceptable to hold talks with Russia's gas giant Gazprom in Russia.
"The Russian Federation is an unacceptable location for negotiations between Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom. Naftogaz has maintained this position since 2014 in both its official letters and at the meetings with the Russian side," the Ukrainian company said in a statement on Thursday.
In the same time, Naftogaz says it remains open for discussions with Gazprom in Brussels or other city of the European Union.
As was reported, deputy CEO of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev has recently proposed holding talks with Naftogaz in Moscow to discuss gas transit shipments via Ukraine after 2019.
Gazprom's proposal to meet in Moscow to discuss this issue "means that Gazprom doesn't plan to conduct such negotiations," Naftogaz wrote on Facebook, commenting on the Russian company's initiative.
"As they say, you'd better come to us," Naftogaz said.
