IMF, World Bank support bill on Ukrainian pension system reform
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have expressed their support for the government's draft law on reforming the pension system of Ukraine, the press service of the Social Policy Ministry of Ukraine reported.
"The process of negotiations was completed by the prime minister of Ukraine, who participated in the talks with IMF Mission Chief [for Ukraine] Ron Van Rooden. The negotiations resulted in the adoption of a balanced, comprehensive document based on the best world practice and providing responses to those challenges and problems that the Ukrainian state and society are currently facing," the ministry said in a statement released on Sunday morning.
The Social Policy Ministry also thanked experts from the IMF and the World Bank for their help in drafting this bill and published the originals of the letters of both international institutions.
On June 2, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said he expected the government bill on the pension reform to be considered at a meeting of the National Reform Council next week.
