State-run enterprise Ukrposhta plans to bring to Ukraine one of the leaders online trade – Amazon shop, Director Ukrposhta Ihor Smeliansky said on Channel 5 TV on Monday.
"Now we want to bring Amazon to our country. We are working with our partners, as this is international postal turnover. It requires some time. We are ready with logistics, but these are international agreements and in this case we are to work with U.S. Postal Service. This is a large monopolist and they move not very fast," Smiliansky said.
In addition, he said that customs service should expand the number of employees to ensure handling of the increased volume of goods across the border.
"I want badly [to bring Amazon] by late 2017, but I would not promise, as I am not sure," he said.
