Ukraine, Russia to form WTO arbiter panel over transit restrictions
Ukraine on Tuesday in Geneva at a meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Dispute Settlement Body repeatedly asked to create an arbiter panel in the dispute with Russia on transit restrictions, Russia's Economic Development Ministry has reported.
"This is a usual step under the standard rules foreseen in the WTO agreement on the rules to settle disputes. After this meeting the parties have time (around 20 days according to general rules) to approve the arbiter panel," the ministry said.
Ukraine insists on settling the dispute in court, the ministry said.
As reported, in November 2016 Ukraine held the WTO consultations with Russia on restrictions of transit movement from Ukraine to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan across Russia.
