EBRD director hopes investment in Ukraine to expand to EUR 1 bln in 2017
Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Ukraine Sevki Acuner hopes that the bank's investment into the implementation of projects in Ukraine in 2017 would expand to EUR 1 billion.
In the two previous years the bank invested EUR 2.2 billion in general, or near EUR 1 billion a year, he said. He expects that this year the investment will be increased to this sum, he told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday in Kyiv.
Acuner said that in 2016 EBRD's investment in Ukraine totaled some EUR 600 million over the political instability in Ukraine early 2016.
He said that the bank has a serious portfolio of investment for 2017 and the situation in Donbas should not influence the volume of the investment. He said that EBRD intends to invest in construction of subway in Kharkiv, development of power lines in Ukraine, the energy sector in 2017 and finance several projects in the port industry.
