IMF funds not being spent on food but ensure national currency stability – Poroshenko
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that the funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are working for the stability of the national currency in Ukraine.
"Forex reserves were melting like snow in the spring and shrunk to almost $5 billion by February 2015. Today they make up $15.5 billion. First of all, the funds received from the IMF went there. They were not stolen by the authorities, they were not eaten away by people, as some people say, they are stored and preserved, primarily to the reserve and ensure the stability of the national currency," he said during the fifth meeting of the Regional Development Council in Kyiv on Monday.
