EC will issue EUR 600 mln second tranche of macro-financial aid to Ukraine
The European Commission on March 16 approved the granting of the second tranche of macro-financial assistance worth EUR 600 million to Ukraine to support the capital market.
This amount will be allocated in late March-early April, EC spokesperson Annika Breidthardt said at a briefing in Brussels, commenting on the decision.
According to her, the matter concerns aid to Ukrainian citizens and support to the Ukrainian government, which is trying to implement reforms.
"Ukraine has done a remarkable job of stabilizing and reforming its economy, despite the armed conflict unfolding on its soil. We wish to see the positive reform momentum in Ukraine continue. With today's disbursement of the second payment of EUR 600 million to Ukraine, the EU reaffirms its long-standing commitment to support Ukraine in its efforts to maintain stability and ensure economic recovery in the country," Valdis Dombrovskis, Commission Vice President responsible for the Euro and Social Dialogue, also in charge of Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, said.
