Ukraine gas stocks down 32.9% since beginning of heating season
Gas stocks in Ukraine's underground storage facilities declined by 32.9% to 9.885 billion cubic meters (bcm) between October 13, 2016, when the current heating season began, and February 2.
Ukraine withdrew 91.94 million cubic meters (mcm) from underground storage on January 31, the most so far this season, and 2.102 bcm in January as a whole (67.8 mcm/day on average), Ukrtransgaz, which operates the country's pipelines and storage facilities, said in a statement.
Withdrawal of gas from underground storage facilities a year ago - on January 31, 2016 was 52.67 mcm with stocks of 11.112 bcm and two years ago - on January 31, 2015 - 56.04 mcm with stocks of 9.311 bcm.
Gas imports rose 58.8% year-on-year in January 2017 to 1.453 bcm.
