Naftogaz not ruling out Russian claims over failure to ensure gas transit to Europe
Naftogaz has not ruled out a likelihood of Russia, which has been hit by severe frosts, making baseless accusations that Ukraine is unable to ensure natural gas transit to Europe.
"We are waiting for the favorite tune: the scaremongering that Ukraine is taking gas out of its underground stores [of natural gas]. This is our gas, we pumped it into our storage facilities precisely to take it out in winter. Ukraine has no obligation to help Gazprom [MOEX: GAZP] with our own reserve when it [Gazprom] is running short," the Ukrainian company said on Facebook.
Ukraine is only partially affected by cold weather, and the company has built up a sufficient reserve of natural gas in its storage facilities, according to the statement.
