Finance ministry on Dec 30 issues over UAH 70 bln worth of government bonds for PrivatBank, Deposit Guarantee Fund
Ukraine's Finance Ministry on the last working day of 2016 issued government domestic loan bonds of over UAH 70 billion to capitalize PrivatBank and finance the Individuals Deposit Guarantee Fund.
According to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), the amount of outstanding government domestic loan bonds on December 30 grew by UAH 73.12 billion or 12.3%, to UAH 667.56 billion.
The government domestic loan bonds portfolio of Ukrainian banks expanded by UAH 65.12 billion or 34.2%, to UAH 255.47 billion, the portfolio of nonfinancial institutions – by UAH 7.94 billion or 50.5%, to UAH 23.69 billion.
The portfolio of nonresidents preferring to invest funds in currency pegged bonds grw by UAH 60 million or 0.9% due to the hryvnia devaluation at the end of 2016, to UAH 6.46 billion, and the portfolio of the NBU did not change.
