Poroshenko, Lagarde coordinate steps within EFF program
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a telephone conversation with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde, the press service of the Ukrainian president has said.
"Petro Poroshenko and Christine Lagarde coordinated steps within the development of further cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program," a statement reads.
The parties also agreed to hold a bilateral meeting in January 2017.
The IMF chief welcomed the decision on the nationalization of PrivatBank. She noted the balanced and decisive steps of Ukraine's leadership, in particular, Head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Gontareva in this regard, which is crucial for maintaining public confidence and the banking system stability.
In addition, the sides discussed the process of consideration of the draft national budget of Ukraine for 2017 and the prospects of its adoption.
