NBU head not waiting for large outflow of deposits from PrivatBank, hopes for no impact on inflation, forex rates
Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva does not expect that there will be large outflow of deposits from PrivatBank (Dnipro). She expressed hope that its nationalization would not considerably influence inflation and currency exchange rates.
"The share of fixed-term deposits is large. The most important thing is that this is fully state-owned bank that guarantees deposits to population. We do not expect that there will large outflow of deposits from PrivatBank. We do not foresee that this factor would considerably influence the currency market and inflation," she said at a briefing on Monday.
