Klimkin asks European Commission to back Kyiv in preventing construction of alternative gas pipelines
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic have discussed energy problems in the run-up to Ukraine-EU-Russia trilateral negotiations.
"Pavlo Klimkin has called on the European Commission to adhere to the principle of solidarity with Ukraine in preventing the construction of alternative gas pipelines bypassing Ukraine and in making decisions regarding the use of the already existing pipelines' resources," the Ukrainian mission to the EU said on Facebook on Wednesday.
Sefcovic reaffirmed the European Commission's willingness to continue cooperation with Ukraine as a reliable transporter of gas to Europe.
