Knesset speaker hopes Israel-Ukraine free trade agreement will be signed in 2017
Speaker of Israel's Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein says he hopes that an agreement on a free trade area between Israel and Ukraine will be signed in 2017.
"Now talks on a free trade area between Ukraine and Israel are under way. I hope in 2017 - we don't aim at round anniversaries in our relations - such an agreement will finally be [signed]," he said at the forum, titled "Ukraine-Israel 2016: 25 Years of Diplomatic Relations: From Common Heritage to a Shared Vision," held on Thursday.
The Knesset speaker said the signing of the agreement requires the intensification of work of state agencies not only in Ukraine, but also in Israel.
He expressed hope that the signing of the agreement would promote the development of relations between the two countries, in particular cooperation in the high-tech industry.
