Government introduces decreasing coefficient for leasing state-owned property in Chornobyl zone
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has introduce the decreasing coefficient 0.15 for leasing of state-owned property located in the Chornobyl exclusion zone and zone of ultimate (obligatory) resettlement.
An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported that the decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday.
"The resolution was drawn up to stimulate the development of some types of activities, including sustainable energy using state-owned property. We propose to introduce the decreasing coefficient for leasing of state-owned property located in the zone," Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ostap Semerak said at the meeting.
The minister said that some UAH 2 billion a year is spent to maintain the exclusion zone.
He said that the use of state-owned property is possible only under leasing agreements, and the maintenance costs would be paid by leasers. This would help to save budget funds.
