National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy plans to import 1.3-1.4 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas from Europe in October 2016, Naftogaz Board Chairman Andriy Kobolev has said.
"Now we are importing the highest ever volumes of gas from Europe. For example, in October we expect that it would be 1.3-1.4 bcm," he said on Channel 5 TV late on Thursday.
He said that imports of large amounts of gas and gas stocks in underground gas storage facilities being 14.704 bcm as of October 19, are enough to provide Ukrainian consumers with gas and safely pass the heating season.
According to tentative data from public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz, in the period from October 1 through October 19 Ukraine imported 925.4 million cubic meters of gas from Europe or 48.7 million cubic meters a day.
