Ukraine prolongs, expands sanctions against Russian defense enterprises
Ukraine has extended for a year and has expanded the sanctions imposed in September 2015 against the Russian enterprises and companies, which are operating in the interests of the Russian security and defense sector.
According to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's decree dated October 17, which enacted the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council's decision of September 16, the updated sanction list of the Russian defense companies included among others: Rostec state corporation, JSC Rosoboronexport, OJSC Rostov-based helicopter production plant Rostvertol, OJSC Izhmash Concern, PJSC United Aviation Corporation, OJSC NPP Aerosila, OJSC Ilyushin Aviation Complex, OJSC Ural tyre-producing plant, OJSC Ufa-based enterprise Gidravlika, OJSC Kazan-based plant Elektropribor, and PJSC KAMAZ.
The sanction list also includes those Russian enterprises which had already been sanctioned since September 2015, such as OJSC Air Defense Concern Almaz-Antey, OJSC Russian Helicopters, OJSC Kazan helicopter plant, and OJSC Ulan-Ude aviation plant.
As reported, in 2014, Ukraine halted the export of military and dual-purpose goods to Russia after Crimea's unification with Russia; a ban on military-technical cooperation with Russia, including supplies of dual-purpose produce, was imposed in June 2014. In May 2015, the Ukrainian government severed the 1993 intergovernmental agreement with Russia in the area of military-technical cooperation.
