Some 15,000 foreign guests could come to Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv
Some 15,000 foreign guests could come to Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv, Zurab Alasania, head of Ukraine's National Television Company, has said.
"The city's authorities anticipate that around 20,000 foreigners could come and hope that up to 30,000 would cone [one more ace in Kyiv's deck is the capacity of Boryspil and Zhuliany airports that is enough for large passenger flows]. The forecast of the National Television Company are humbler – up to 15,000 guests," he said in an interview with Dzerkalo Tyzhnia. Ukraine weekly.
Alasania said that the number of countries that would compete next year is unknown: they could be 43 and 46.
"You know that even Russia announced that it will take part in the contest in Kyiv," he said.
The issue of Russian citizens who are banned from entering Ukraine is the issue of Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), he said.
Ukrainian singer Jamala won the 2016 Eurovision song contest in Stockholm with the entry titled "1944," thus bringing the next year's contest to Ukraine.
