State-controlled power generating company Centrenergo buys coal outside Ukraine at about $62.5 per tonne, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk has stated.
"The price Centrenergo buys coal at is $62.5 [per tonne]," he said at a meeting of the parliamentary energy committee.
He added that DTEK private energy holding buys coal at a higher price because it signed the relevant contracts later.
Nasalyk noted Centrenergo, when importing coal, does not manage to stay within the budget approved by the National Commission on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) under the Rotterdam+ formula. We do not manage to stay within the Rotterdam+ price," the minister stated.
He added at present Ukrainian companies have contracted five ships with coal [80,000 tonnes each].
