Kyiv City Council imposes moratorium on increase of housing tariffs from July 1
The deputies of Kyiv City Council have approved a moratorium on the entry into force of increased housing and utilities tariffs from July 1.
Some 75 out of the 93 deputies registered in the hall supported the corresponding draft decision.
"Deny charges on July 1 tariffs and fines imposed on Kyiv residents for late payment for housing and utilities services," reads the decision.
According to it, the moratorium on increase in prices for electricity, natural gas, thermal energy and water supply services is set up to October 1, 2016.
"We will control the situation so that our utilities enterprises, our postmen won't carry bills with the new rates," the author of the draft decision, the deputy of the Yednist faction, Oleksandr Omelchenko said.
According to him, the decision of the National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) regarding raising tariffs from July 1 is illegal since the agency does not have adequate powers.
