Ukravtodor repairs potholes on 4 mln sq m of Ukrainian roads
The State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) has spent over UAH 2 billion in 2016 for so-called pothole repair work.
"Thanks to this budget today potholes have been removed on over 4 million square meters on principal and local roads," acting Head of Ukravtodor Yevhen Barakh said at a government meeting last week.
He said around 2% of roads or 2,641 kilometers were overhauled over the past two years..
"If we take direct budget financing for road development, this is UAH 6.5 billion, and thanks to this we foresaw current repair worth UAH 3.5 billion this year," he said.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in April instructed Ukravtodor to finish pothole repair work on all principal roads before June 15, 2016. It was also planned to repair around 3.6 million square meters of roads.
