Cabinet sets 50% perpetual discount on port charges for transit through Ukrainian ports
The Cabinet of Ministers has established a 50% discount on port charges for transit cargo passing through Ukrainian seaports.
Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said his agency has developed a draft government resolution to improve tariff policy at seaports.
"A high level of port fees in Ukrainian seaports does not allow for the most effectively use of the transit potential of seaports. Therefore the draft act proposes reducing port dues by 50% for vessels that carry goods in transit, except for administrative, on an ongoing basis," he said, presenting the document at a cabinet meeting.
According to the minister, providing such discounts will facilitate the loading of port facilities that have significant reserves and attract transit cargo, except for sea complex enterprises, ensure the development of the cargo base of land carriers, increase revenues to the national budget.
As reported, earlier this discount was granted for a limited period.
