Ukrainian government approves new procedure for awarding IDPs with welfare payments

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved a new procedure for awarding internally displaced persons (IDPs) with welfare payments and supervising the settlement of the payments in the places of IDPs residence.

According to cabinet resolution No. 365 dated June 8, the government orders the structural divisions for public social security to check the information mentioned in the place-of-residence verification letters issued to IDPs and take a formal note about the living conditions of IDPs' families.

The checks will be conducted only for those IDPs who are granted with welfare payments, subsidies and benefits.

The decisions to pay pensions and other welfare payments to IDPs will be made by commissions for awarding IDPs with welfare payments created by district administrations, executive agencies of the city and district councils.

The commissions can deny welfare payments if applicants do not live in the place of residence mentioned in their papers.
