Underlying inflation slows to 0.2% in May – statistics
Underlying inflation in Ukraine in May 2016 slowed from 0.6% in April 2016 to 0.2% in May 2016, the State Statistics Service reported on Thursday.
Underlying inflation in May 2016 from May 2015 was 8.8% (against 10.6% in April 2016 from April 2015), which is the lowest indicator since May 2014.
Since the beginning of the year, underlying inflation has hit 3.1%, whereas it was 27.7% in the same period last year.
Underlying inflation does not include short-term irregular changes in prices influenced by various factors of an administrative, event-based or seasonal character. For instance, it does not include changes to prices of food and energy.
Underlying inflation in Ukraine in 2015 accelerated to 34.7% after 22.8% in 2014 and 0.1% in 2013.
