Ukraine increases gas transit by one third in Jan-May
Ukraine in January-May 2016 increased transit of natural gas to Europe and Moldova by 34.3% (by 8.001 billion cubic meters), compared to the same period in 2015, to 31.361 billion cubic meters.
According to live data from PJSC Ukrtransgaz, transit to Europe in January-May this year amounted to 30.064 billion cubic meters, to Moldova 1.298 billion cubic meters.
In May 2016 transit of gas to Europe and Moldova increased by 20% (by 1.078 billion cubic meters) compared to May 2015, to 6.468 billion cubic meters. In particular transit of gas through Ukraine to Europe amounted to 6.296 billion cubic meters, to Moldova 172 million cubic meters.
As reported, Gazprom in September 2014-February 2015 restricted gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine. Restrictions were introduced to counter reverse shipments from the EU to Ukraine.
