Crown Agents better not to take part in medicine procurement next year – MP Bohomolets
Britain's Crown Agents should not take part in international medicine procurement for Ukraine next year, as the company purchases medicines not from pharmaceutical producers, but intermediaries, Head of the parliamentary committee for healthcare Olha Bohomolets said at a briefing on Monday.
"I think that Crown Agents has made two serious mistakes. The first mistake is that there is a delay with supplies of cancer medicines for children and the second gross mistake is that the law on international procurement says that the organizations that are permitted to supply medicines to Ukraine are to buy them from manufacturers, not intermediaries. Crown Agents did not buy medicines from manufacturers. It bought them from the intermediaries that earlier sold medicines to Ukraine. In my opinion, the issue should be discussed and changes should be made not allowing this organization to participate in procurement tenders next year," she said.
