Fiscal Service: Expedient to again criminalize smuggling in Ukraine
It is expedient for Ukraine to pass from administrative to criminal liability for smuggling, Head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov has said.
"We initiate criminalizing commodity smuggling. Today it is an administrative violation... for everybody to feel responsible," he said at a press conference.
According to him, in general it is necessary to tighten responsibility: last year more than 26,000 protocols on violation of customs regulations were issued.
Speaking about fight against corruption in the fiscal authorities, the official suggested the need for expansion of responsibility of department heads.
"We have no other choice but to make responsibility for each other, i.e. the head of the department will be responsible for his subordinates, the head of the agency will also be responsible - if something happens or if something is wrong," Nasirov said.
However, he stressed the customs is one of the priorities for reform and improvement.
