Agriculture Ministry: grain exports from Ukraine in 2015/16 agri-year could be 38 mln tonnes
Ukraine in the 2015/16 agricultural year (July-June) could export 38 million tonnes of grain, Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Taras Kutovy has said.
"Now everything depends on weather: we could reach 38 million tonnes for exports with carryover stocks of 8.5 million tonnes," he said.
The minister said that around 100,000 ha with winter crops are to be re-sowed.
"As for the state of winter crops: we had up to 1 million of ha with weak crops, but good weather in spring improved their state. Finally, we are to re-sow around 100,000 ha. This is a good figure," the minister added.
Ukraine as of May 20 sowed spring grain and leguminous crops on 6.8 million ha (93% of the target being 7.4 million ha).
