Ukraine has no plans to buy steam coal from Russia in 2016
Ukraine has no plans to purchase steam coal from Russia this year, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Ihor Nasalyk told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.
"Today we have near 3 million tonnes in stock and we would boost them. The question now is not to receive coal, but distribute it. We have plenty of our own coal," he said.
Nasalyk also said that today he met a Turkish delegation and they are ready to discuss the provision of financing to restore Ukrainian coal mines.
The Turkish delegation showed its interest to the participation in the privatization of Ukrainian coal mines.
