Kyivstar posts EBITDA growth of 43% in Jan-March 2016
JSC Kyivstar mobile operator in January-March 2016 saw EBITDA rise by 43%, compared to the same period in 2015, to UAH 1.83 billion.
According to a company press release, in the first quarter of 2016 EBITDA margin increased by 11.3 percentage points (p.p.) to 52.6%. The growth of this index occurred due to increased revenues, reduced interconnection rates and optimization of operating costs.
The company's net operating income grew by 12%, to nearly UAH 3.5 billion. Revenues from mobile services amounted to UAH 3.2 billion, which is 13% higher than in the same period of 2015.
"This became possible thanks to successful commercial activity and a rise in services consumption (especially mobile Internet). Revenues from mobile services grew by 76% compared with the same period last year as a result of the active development of the 3G network, spread of smartphones and special promotional offers for mobile Internet users," reads the report.
The number of Kyivstar mobile communications subscribers in January-March 2016 decreased by 3%, to 25.3 million as a result of increased competition in the telecoms market. At the same time, compared with the previous period, subscriber base outflow decreased by 2%. Subscribers increased consumption of voice services by 7%, including mobile Internet by 52%. As a result, ARPU (average revenue per user) in the first quarter rose by 16%, to UAH 42.
