Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk advocates the liquidation of the tax police.
"The tax police are the number one enemy. We should be strong … and liquidate the agency," he said, speaking at the conference "Week of Structural Reforms," held in honor of Kakha Bendukidze in Kyiv on Thursday.
The minister also backs the selection of the heads of tax and customs agencies at open tenders.
"Tax and customs reforms include the appointment of new heads of these agencies at open tenders," he said.
The minister promised to present his team in the near future.
Danyliuk said that he seeks to revise all plans of the State Fiscal Service and facilitate tax administration.
He also said that tax benefits and preferences cannot be used, despite the fact that this could touch "very serious interests."
"The era of painless reforms is over," he said.
He said reforms should be painful for corrupt individuals, not for the public.
