Cost of spent nuclear fuel storage facility two at Chornobyl NPP grows to EUR 400 mln
Total cost of construction of spent nuclear fuel storage facility two at Chornobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) is EUR 400 million, according to materials published by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Initally the cost of construction was assessed at EUR 275 million. Later the cost was increased to EUR 320 million.
The completion of the project is scheduled for 2016.
The facility will be able to store over 20,000 tonnes of fuel assembles removed from Chornobyl NPP. They can be stored for 100 years.
